Monica Taylor‘s sweet sister of western swing Cherokee Maidens Robin Macy are driving down from Belle Plaine, KS and Sis White is flying in from Louisville, KY, while our chief, Kentucky White, will be directing from the stage as we render down thru a wonderful collection of great old western swing songs like My Little Cherokee Maiden,It’s All of Your Fault, and Route 66.
We will sing some old favorite jazz songs like Avalon, an old blues tune called Snatch and Grab It, a Woody Guthrie tune called Pastures of Plenty, original tunes like Belle of the Plaine, Okie Dokie, Longing for Tulsa and You, and Prairie Home Lullaby…. gospel songs like Standing by the Bedside , God Tryin to Get your Attention, and one my favorites, a song from Scotland named for that country from which I have roots — Caledonia.
I love singing with these women and playing music with Kentucky and all of the men in the band: Shelby Eicher on fiddle, Nathan Eicher on Bass, Steve Bagsby on steel guitar, and Brandon Blackburn on drums. We call them Sycamore Swing!
They have been playing together for about 10 years from Kansas to Texas and have recorded 3 albums — Cherokee Maiden, Cherokee Maidens Ride Again, and our cd released summer of 2017, Dixie Darlin. The last two were nominated by the Academy of Western Artists, songs of the year, Band of the year, and female vocalist of the year.
Potluck and doors open at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m.
